Abstract

Small Salmon Arab, Colotis amata Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) is reported from the coastal (Sagar Island and Haldia) and inland (Piyali) saline areas of West Bengal, India after a time lapse of seven decades. The survey revealed a patchy distribution with a few individuals , signalling potential local extinction due to habitat destruction.
