The elusive marbled cat is a poorly studied felid inhabiting the Indo-Malayan region. This study presents the first camera trap records of the species in Kakoi Reserve Forest, Assam, India, expanding its known distribution. Despite its wide range, the marbled cat remains cryptic, making such records crucial for understanding its ecology and conservation status. The capture of these images in a relatively less-disturbed forest highlights the importance of protecting such habitats for the survival of this threatened species. Further research is imperative to assess the population size, habitat requirements, and potential threats faced by the species in this region.
