Abstract

A new species Xiphidiogonus sinispinus sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Satara district, Maharashtra State. The new species belongs to tribe Polydrepanini (Family Paradoxosomatidae). The genus was established by Carl (1932) with three new species from Tamil Nadu state. No report prior to this have been reported from Maharashtra, we are introducing first report of genus Xiphidiogonus with a novel species from Maharashtra. The new species X. sinispinus is separated from previously reported three species of genus Xiphidiogonus by lacking the gonofemoral processes while other three species have either internal or external gonofemoral edges.
