Abstract

The Dhole Cuon alpinus (Pallas, 1811), known as the Asiatic Wild Dog is an endangered canid distributed across Asia. Here, we report the first record with photographic evidence of Dhole presence from Panshet, Pune, Maharashtra, India; a region where the species was previously unrecorded. This observation expands the documented and confirmed occurrences within the northern Western Ghats, highlighting the importance of fragmented and human-modified landscapes for the species’ occurrence.
