{"id":1082,"date":"2018-10-11T13:11:05","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T13:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/threatenedtaxa.org\/jottings\/?page_id=1082"},"modified":"2021-07-12T11:49:04","modified_gmt":"2021-07-12T11:49:04","slug":"contribute","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/threatenedtaxa.org\/jottings\/contribute\/","title":{"rendered":"Contribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Why jot\u00a0for Jottings?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jottings is a communication initiative by the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/threatenedtaxa.org\/\">Journal of Threatened Taxa<\/a><\/em> (JoTT) aimed at breaking down the scientific findings in JoTT and other peer-reviewed journals to make the principles understandable to apply for the general public in daily life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you would like to contribute to this initiative and can write crisp, brief notes that communicate the critical findings in conservation to the general public simply and without the garb of scientific jargon and complexities, we cordially invite you to jot for Jottings!<\/p>\n<h2>What do you need at the time of submission?<\/h2>\n<h3>1. The jotting<\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>Matter and form:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Your jotting can be a summary, overview, write-up, report, or story on an article published in JoTT or any other peer-reviewed scientific journal.\u00a0 Make sure that it falls under at least one of the following categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Behaviour<\/li>\n<li>Conservation<\/li>\n<li>Disease<\/li>\n<li>Ecology<\/li>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<li>Taxonomy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Title:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Weave a short and spiffy title for your jotting, including keywords from the article.\u00a0 Let it draw your readers into reading your jotting.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Length and style:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Let your jotting be jotted down in a reader-friendly, crisp style in 400 to 600 words.\u00a0 Make sure to lose the scientific jargon and other technicalities that hamper easy comprehension.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Format:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Email your jotting in .doc or .docx format as an attachment to &lt;<a href=\"mailto:sanjay@threatenedtaxa.org\">sanjay@threatenedtaxa.org<\/a>&gt; with \u201cJot for Jottings\u201d as the subject. \u00a0Please do not send your file in PDF format.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>References:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Cite the journal article(s) you have referred to and provide a link to the source, if available.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Author bio<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tell us a little about yourself in two to three lines \u2014 your name, affiliations, email ID, why you chose to jot for Jottings, among other things. \u00a0You could also include a photograph of yours that we could use on Jottings.<\/p>\n<h3>3.
