Abstract

The métier of combining granite stone carving with painting of wildlife subjects in Pitchandikulam at Auroville International Township has been rather innovative, and some works are described and analyzed. The basic history of stone carving, and especially of those sculptures with animal motifs, is recounted, and the applications, especially in the context of enhancing landscape architecture, are discussed and highlighted.
